Improve Search Engine Rankings With Secret Formula

search-formula

If your website is looking for those all powerful search results that can generate new customers and new revenue for your business we are going to give you the formula. To get top search results it takes a combination of ingredients working together. The truth is that there is an endless amount of factors that effect where you end up in the search results. The good news is that there is an exponential decay in the effect many of those results have on your place in the searches. By focusing on the combination of factors listed below, you will see your business take off online.

On-site Factors (On-site Seo)

Keyword Optimization

The two big things here are keyword optimization and link structure. What do these mean? Keyword optimization means that you have researched what words people are using to search for your product or service. Once you have the main one you should look for what are called modifiers. Modifiers are words before and after your main keywords that modify your main phrase. If the main keyword phrase you are targeting is “horse riding”, then modifiers would be horse riding lessons, horse riding clothes, horse riding saddles….. You get the point. The idea is that no everyone will use just horse riding. This is how you build relevancy on your site and get targeted traffic. Once you have the keywords, you have to get them in the right place. We are not going into insane detail, but check our video tutorial to find out how.  In general you want your keywords appearing in you URL, title tag, h1-h6 tags (this has lost a lot of importance), and on your page. This makes sense right. If you sell horse riding equipment, Google thinks you would mention horse riding equipment in your text. If you don’t they just assume you should not be ranked for that phrase.

Internal Link Structure

This is a very important part that most people miss. Your internal link structure plays a huge role in how well you site ranks. The links from internal pages to other internal pages, the use of “no follow” tags for links you do not want the search spiders to see, they are all important. Link structure is how your sites pages get connected. If it is done right, the search engines reward your. Done wrong, and you will be penalized. And no, if you think putting a sitemap up means you are good to go, you are wrong! It is true that a sitemap is helpful for most sites, but it is not necessary for others, and is only part of what can be done. Before you ever try to build back links to your website, make sure that your internal structure is set up correctly.

Off-Site Factors

Link Building

Getting back links to your site is essential to ranking for profitable, competitive keywords. The reason is a little different than why you think though. Our take on the need for back links is a little different than what most would tell you. Back links in the eyes of Google spell credibility. They even gave credibility a new name. It’s called “Pagerank”. It is calculated on a 0-10 scale. Three things effect page rank in regards to back links. Volume, quality, and scarcity. In an ideal world, you would get back links from a lot of sites, that had high pagerank themselves, and you sites link was the only link on the page. Think of a link as a vote in the eyes of Google. A website decided that your site was good so it linked to you. How many other sites did they link too? The less the better. The more well known the website the better.

Page Rank

The thing about Page rank is that it is wildly understood. Essentially Google uses it for two main reasons. The first is to judge how much weight a link to another page or site should have from a site (not all sites are equal). The second is as a qualifier to be included in the search rankings. For popular searches, Google gives preference to high Page rank sites. The easiest way to describe this complex relation is that the higher your Page rank, the less relevant your page has to be to be shown in the search results.

Quality Factors

Believe it or not, Google has got a lot smarter of the last couple years. They have begun to measure a lot of things that did not matter even 6 months ago. Among the most important things that google has begun to use in their ranking equations is quality. They measure this by the quality of the users experience when they go to your site from the search page. What does the user do? The answer is measured by metrics such as bounce rate and time. Bounce rate is the number of people that go to you home page and then leave without clicking on another page. Time simply refers to how long they stayed on your site. High bounce rates and low time spent averages reflect that the users are not finding what they are looking for on specific search terms. The result is that you become deranked from those terms.
