Search Engine Submission Scams- Why It Is A Waster Of Money

search-engine-submission-scamSearch Engine Submission is a very common service provided by many SEO companies, and consultants. This has always troubled us at Orlando Search Engine Marketing because it is 100% ineffective. True it was useful many years ago, but today there is no reason for a site to pay to be submitted to a search engine. A minor exception to that rule is Yahoo paid inclusion, but that is a different service, and one we advise novice web marketers from attempting to use. So while we could easily tell you Search Engine Submission is important and take your money like many services do, that just isn’t what we do here at OSEM. We know that an educated client is a better client. It’s about providing real value.

So how do you get into the search engines if there is no submission? Simple, get links from other sites. Search engines add new websites and pages to their index by using search spiders. A search spider is nothing more than a program that is designed to go through a link from one page to another when a link is found. They are more complicated than that, but for the purpose of this conversation that explanation will do. Think of them as a car that can only turn right, and has to do so at every turn it sees. They are able to spider millions of sites a day. If your site is linked to from another site that is already indexed, you site will then become indexed. It is a pretty simple process. They will still allow you to submit your website, but it is not necessary.

The lessons in this story is to stay away from any company attempting to charge you for search engine submission. Especially the ones that say they will submit you to dozens of search engines. Almost all search traffic comes from Google, Yahoo, Msn, Aol and their subsidiary’s. Ask.com is worth mentioning but barely. The rest of the market gets about 2% of total search traffic and is not worth targeting. To learn more about how to become visible online contact us using the link below for a free consultation.
